After a long cold winter as soon as the water begins to warm the Susquehanna Catfish go on a feeding frenzy. This is one of the best catfish bites of the year. This is also the time to catch some of the biggest of the season. Fishing for these River Monsters this time of the year is pretty straight forward we will fish feeding areas near their wintering holes. when it comes to bait cut bait seems to do the trick but prepared baits also work at times. These trips are fun for all ages just dress warm. These trips will run 4 to 5 hours all rods reels and bait will be provided. These Early Bird Specials will run till April 15. I am offering very attractive pricing on these trips @ $150 per trip. Give me a call and try it you will remember this adventure for years to come.
2018 was a very good big fish year, my Clients landed three bass over 5 pounds and five more over 4 pounds. Connor ended up winning a free trip for 2019 with a Susquehanna Largemouth that weighed 5 pounds 2 ounces. Jeremy ended up landing the biggest catfish that was 12 pounds 6 ounces winning him a free catfish trip for 2019. Mike was the Walleye champ for 2018 landing two that were over 8 pounds. For 2019 I will be offering trips on the main stem out of Fort Hunter and the North Branch out of the Falls Access will continue to be my home water. Thanks to all who fished with me in 2018. Morgan and Shawn enjoying their day with some beautiful Susquehanna fish.
This stretch of the Susquehanna known as the North Branch is characterized by rolling meadows, forests and crop land, set amidst seemingly Endless Mountains. This area is conveniently located just a few miles from Interstate 81 and easy access to the northeast extension of the turnpike. We are located less then two hours from the major metropolitan areas making day Trips very easy to do. Last year my clients caught and released over 8000 Smallmouth Bass. 565 Channel Cats and 113 Walleye. The river flow was good all year so my clients seen a lot of action. We mainly fish the Lackawanna, Susquehanna and Wyoming county area of the North Branch but have fished from the New York state line south to Harrisburg. If you wish to fish a different area I will do my best to accommodate your wishes. We also Fish several lakes in the Poconos including a private lave in Wayne county that offers Largemouth up to 8 pound. Also very good Pickeral and Calico Fishing.
We are located in the Pocono Region of NEPA in the Clarks Summit area. We will meet at the Falls PFBC Access located just a few miles from interstate 81 and the Northeast Extension of the Turnpike. If the rest of your family wishes not to fish there are endless recreational activities in the area. Catch a RailRiders baseball game, this is the Yankees AAA farm team. Montage mountain water park also right there. Camelback water park in Tannersville along with Great Wolf Lodge also the Kalahari resort is near. If you wish to try your hand at one of the area casinos they are also close by. Mohegan Sun and Mount Airy casino are both within 30 minutes drive. There are also endless camping opportunities available at the many state parks. If biking is your thing there are many miles of mountain bike trails in the area. So if some of your family wishes not to fish they should be able to find something to do.
I will make your trip work for you weather we are fishing one of the local Pocono lakes or the mighty Susquehanna River. There are usually several patterns going on so I can usually show you several ways to catch fish. I realize not everyone wants to "cast for bass" all day so I offer Catfish trips as more laid back relaxing adventure. Catfish trips are a favorite for the young angler or those who just wants to catch big fish. Walleye fishing is also another option the best months being November and December. These are just a couple more options of what I offer. I have also gained access to a very good Pocono fishing lake. It is primarily a shallow weed-stump filled jewel. Last year Largemouth to 8 pounds were caught and release. This lake also offers outstanding Calico and Pickerel fishing.
I am a lifelong resident of NEPA and has been fishing over 50 year. After spending many years on the Bass Tournament Trails I moved to guiding on the Susquehanna River and surrounding Pocono lake. I am a full time guide and spend about 250 days a year on the water. I am very knowledgeable on the latest techniques and lures. I will show you the latest techniques and review the basics to efficiently utilize your time. I understand not everyone wants to throw crankbaits or jerkbaits all day there are usually several patterns going on so I can usually accommodate other techniques you would rather try. l also have several other guides available so larger groups requiring more than one boat are welcome. All skill levels are also welcome. We will make whatever adjustments needed to make your trip a enjoyable and memorable experience.
Those new to running the shallow water of the Susquehanna will be amazed how shallow a LoPro can run. My RiverPro was designed by Kevin Turner he is a lifelong river boat builder from Hillsboro Missouri. RiverPro is widely regarded as the flattest running best handling river boat available. Powered by a 200 hp Mercury sportjet we can achieve speeds of 50 mph. Also equipped with heavy duty skid plates and a .190 hull thickness we can literally go anywhere. You will never hear me worry about how shallow the water is we can go there! Another plus of a fast boat is we spend more time fishing then running to spots. Spend a day with me and you will see what I mean.
All Bass will be released in order to maintain this world class fishery. Catfish and walleye under 21 inches may be kept. I can accommodate two adults or one adult and two kids. I have other boats available if other anglers wish to come along. You must have your PA Fishing License with you and displayed no exceptions. You will need to bring your rain gear hopefully you won’t need it but you never know. Bring enough warm clothes I have ample storage for extra gear. Sunglasses are a must not only to see the structure but also for eye protection. If you choose to use my equipment you will be using very high quality Denali Kovert Rods paired with either Lews or Shimano Reels each one of these outfits cost in excess of $ 300 That being said if you drop one in you will be charged the replacement cost. As always you are welcome to bring your own gear if you wish to.
